A Note From Our CEO
Industry Coverage Statistics
I have been in the TPMS industry since 2009, and made a career marketing new product categories. One common practice has bothered me from day one... undocumented coverage statistics. It is bad enough that many suppliers do not post their coverage lists but refuse to even give customers their list. Worse is that most simply lie about their coverage percentage with no proof or documentation to support their exaggerated claims. In the early days, some would claim to use VIO (Vehicles In Operation) to get a higher percentage, but today with most competitive brands well over 80%, VIO is irrelevant as most VIO heavy cars are covered. There is simply no honest or logical reason, not to have access to accurate and timely data for a product you purchase, except to hide their true lower coverage.
AirTech is different, we cover what we cover and we actually help our customers to fill in what we don't. To me, the integrity of our data reflects on the integrity of our company. Three things I am committed to: 1) We openly publish our application data on our website in a timely manner to match data in our tool. 2) We use simple math to calculate our coverage percentage, which anyone can verify with the data we supply. 3) We list all known TPMS vehicles, and identify if we work on them or not. Honestly, this is just common sense.
For every TPMS supplier, Data Management is a technically challenging aspect of their business that consumes hundreds of hours each month. Every effort is made by AirTech TPMS to ensure that this data is as accurate as possible, however no supplier can guarantee 100% accuracy.
Special Note on July Data: This is our first data set from ATEQ, our tool supplier. I have no issue with the data received being accurate as to we fit or don't fit "as listed". But I have a data team performing a audit on the "We Don't Fit" portion of the data. I know of a few vehicles that should be on the "Don't Fit" list but are not listed. This skews the coverage percentage slightly higher than I believe it actually is. The current data suggests 93% coverage. I am comfortable lowering this to 90% and will remove this portion of my note when our audit is complete and will revise the coverage statistics that we post with every application guide.
